Nature Stampede

The drum kit as one object: every microphone knows which drum was hit.

Nature Stampede

Nature Stampede takes all the drum microphones at once. A short Learn pass works out how each drum spills into every other microphone; from then on it knows, at every stroke, which drum was hit. Gates open only for their own drum, hits are evened out per drum, one drum can be shaped in the overheads alone, close microphones are aligned to the overheads, and the strokes can be exported as MIDI.

For Multi-microphone drum recordings: cleaning spill, tightening toms, evening a performance, replacing or reinforcing drums from the exported strokes.

  • A loud snare does not open the tom gates; snare ghost notes pass untouched.
  • Latency is 7.5 ms, reported to the DAW.
  • Cymbals are the hardest source: crashes and soft strokes on a ringing drum can be missed.
  • Measured so far on a drum kit rendered in code, not on a real recording.

Controls Learn, five drum strips (Gate, Even, Attack, Sustain, Align), Amount, six kit presets, MIDI export, A/B
