Nature Mate

Your voice and its companion: one mate, a pair, or a choir of thirty-two.

Nature Mate gives a voice a companion. It makes a second take from the first, with its own timing, tuning, vibrato and tone on every note, and it can do that once, four times, or thirty-two times for a choir. On its screen the lead is one light in the middle and each mate is a light beside it, placed where it sits between the speakers and tied to the lead by a thread.

For Doubling a lead vocal, widening a chorus, thickening guitars and ad-libs, and turning one singer into a section or a choir on the same notes.

Three faces. Double: one to four mates that sing with the lead. Classic: a tape double, a micro-pitch pair or a slap. Choir: four to thirty-two singers as men, women, children or mixed, in unison or with octaves.
Tightness sets how far the mates stray in time, Looseness how far in tune. Each mate’s own figures are shown under it.
Care keeps the mates off the breaths and consonants, so the words stay single and clear.
The stereo field, correlation and mono loss are measured all the time, with a lamp that says whether the double is safe in mono.
The spectrum and the waveform draw the lead in champagne and the mates in rose, so what the doubling adds can be seen.
New take makes a different performance from the same settings; Freeze keeps the one you like.
This is a concept preview running in the browser, measured on a synthetic singer; it has not been judged by ear on real voices yet. The choir sings the lead’s notes and octaves only; other notes are the work of Nature Agreement. The VST3 is not built.
