U-Mix

Your audio interface, as a digital mixer.

Windows Android

U-Mix

U-Mix turns an audio interface into a digital mixer. The mixer sizes itself to whatever card is connected, and is operated from a console in the app’s window, from any browser on the network, from a phone, from OSC, or from a Mackie Control surface. All of them stay in step with each other.

For Running a live mix, a rehearsal, a stream or a recording from the interface you already own, with monitor mixes, effects and scenes, and control from anywhere in the room.

  • On every strip that carries audio: high-pass and low-pass, a 6-band EQ where each band can be a bell, shelf, pass filter or notch, a gate that can also expand or duck from another channel, a compressor with parallel mix and key input, and a de-esser. A 31-band graphic EQ on buses, subgroups, outputs and the master.
  • Eight effect slots, each running any of thirteen effects: plate, hall, room, delay, ping-pong, chorus, flanger, phaser, doubler, drive, an amplifier with four amps and four cabinets, pitch shift, and pitch correction to a key and scale. Any slot can be an insert.
  • Stereo mix buses for in-ear mixes, subgroups, DCAs, six mute groups, matrix outputs, PFL / AFL monitoring, talkback, automix, a gain assistant and a feedback finder that marks the ringing frequency and notches it.
  • The screen follows the selected strip: the EQ over a live spectrum, twelve seconds of level and gain reduction behind the gate and compressor curves, a picture for each effect, and a Meters page with loudness in LUFS.
  • Scenes with timed glides and recall limited to twelve kinds of setting; the current mix is saved by itself. Recording of the main mix, multitrack recording, and virtual soundcheck (play a take in place of the band).
  • Two cards at once on Windows: a second interface is bridged in with its clock kept in step, for more inputs or outputs. Other devices, virtual cables and computer audio come in as ports.
  • One VST3 effect per strip, each in a process of its own on Windows, so a plugin that crashes cannot take the mixer with it.
  • Network audio (AES67 send and receive), OSC, Mackie Control surfaces with two extenders, a phone layout, and a QR code that puts the mixer on a phone or tablet.
  • Two editions from one program. Free is the mixer, with no time limit. Pro adds plugins on strips, network audio, a second card, and multitrack with virtual soundcheck.
  • Pictured here on a simulated 8-in / 8-out card with a test tone in one monitor mix. It has not been tried with AES67 or Dante hardware, with two real interfaces at once, or with a Mackie surface; the macOS and iOS builds are set up but not built or tested.
